Following this recommendation, EXIFToolGUI works as expected. The readme file recommends this installation, but until recently I could ignore the recommendation. I haven’t found a way of asking it to just re-prove the exif for a file, so for now we would consider the following approach. The way that I got EXIFToolGUI to run and find EXIFTool was to create a directory outside of C:\Program Files and manually install the program in that directory. This can be triggered by changing / adding / removing a data element. Note the java.io.IOException: CreateProcess error=2 and Cannot run program ""Error: File not found - where"" log items ġ1:14:08.899 ERROR o.h.j.controllers.UpdateActions - Successfully did: creating the table CustomMetadatasetLines (1.6)ġ1:14:09.124 INFO - OS name MICROSOFTġ1:14:09.132 ERROR o.h.j.controllers.CommandRunner - IOException error - %msg%nġ1:11:11.689 INFO - Start applicationġ1:11:11.692 INFO - Continuing in system language or, if not translated, in Englishġ1:11:11.678 INFO - string for DB: C:\Users\XXXXXXXX\jexiftoolgui_data\jexiftoolgui.dbġ1:11:11.592 INFO - preference exiftool returned: nullġ1:11:11.599 INFO o.h.j.controllers.CommandRunner - img subString c:\Windows\System32\cmd.exeġ1:11:11.927 INFO - line 0 is C:\Program Files\exiftool\exiftool.exeġ1:11:11.928 INFO - exiftool_found mentions: trueġ1:11:11.928 INFO - exiftool path C:\Program Files\exiftool\exiftool. The easiest way I found to use exiftool to have a whack at this problem is to get exiftool to re-write the exif data for a given file. The culprit seems to be the way jExifTool tries to determine the location of exiftool, which seems to be somehow launching a where exiftool command. Try executing the command with the -v option. Thus jExifTool cancels startup with a ” Erroneous ExifTool preference – The ExifTool specified in your preferences does not exist. Bug descripton jExifTool does not find exiftool, which is findable via a correctly set up PATH entry.
